RICHMOND VILLAGES PROMOTES ‘LIVING WELL’ THROUGH GARDENING AT RHS MALVERN SPRING FESTIVAL

Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern, Thursday 10th - Sunday 13th May 2018

Richmond Villages, part of Bupa, will be promoting the benefits of gardens on health and wellbeing at this year’s RHS Malvern Spring Festival.  The company will be opening its eighth premium retirement village at Wood Norton near Evesham in 2019, and is sponsoring the popular Live Well zone at this year’s festival.

The show takes place between Thursday 10th May - Sunday 13th May.

With the focus on gardening and craft activities within the community, extremely beneficial results can be achieved especially as one gets older, and this is underpinned through features and activities taking place in the zone.  Meanwhile, Richmond Villages is redefining retirement living at its premium retirement villages, where the emphasis is on caring for one’s physical and mental wellbeing, helping to live a long and active retirement.

Commented Paul Brady, village manager at Richmond Wood Norton:  “Our new retirement village between Evesham and Pershore will open next year, and its wonderful rural wooded location overlooking the Avon valley provides a calm and tranquil environment - the grounds and new gardens being created will make it a really special place to live.

“We see enormous synergy between what we will be offering at Wood Norton and the ‘living well’ activities and messages of the Live Well zone, so sponsorship was a natural choice.  We really look forward to meeting everyone.”

Added Claire Blackford, Festival sponsorship account manager:  “What Richmond Villages is planning for Wood Norton fits perfectly with the ethos of the Live Well zone, and is the ideal partner for the event.”

The Live Well zone will include an array of features:

  • The Work of Heart Garden is the world’s first knitted show garden installation.  The work is the inspiration of Clare Young who wanted to create a knitted garden in memory of her late husband and raise funds for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice who cared for him.
  • The permanent Health & Wellbeing Garden designed by Jekka McVicar for last year’s Festival holds pride of place in the zone and next to a community art installation in the form of a ‘mandala’ by Hellens Garden Festival.  Made from recycled materials this will evolve during the festival as visitors add to it.
  • Pop-up treatment tents will provide relaxing pampering sessions.
  • The Children’s Great Exhibition art competition.
  • A display of raised flower beds from Link Nurseries’ Well Bean Garden Club showcasing the value that horticulture and other craft-based activities play in caring for or recovering from mental ill-heath.

The team from Richmond Villages Wood Norton will be on-hand at the Live Well zone throughout the show to talk about ‘living well’ and ‘living in style’ in retirement.  The new village will provide 61 spacious retirement apartments, designed for independent living, as well as 46 village suites for assisting living, and for added reassurance the village will also have its own premium quality care home providing nursing and dementia care 24/7.
