With the new Richmond Witney retirement village now open, its high quality 61 bed care home is also available to those living in Witney and Oxfordshire.

With a high ratio of care staff to residents, Richmond Witney is unlike many other retirement communities and places a huge emphasis not only on the provision of care, but doing so within a beautifully designed environment not normally associated with care homes.

This new state-of-the-art care home brings over 60 much-needed care beds to the community, each within a private en suite bedroom.  Every room is tastefully furnished, includes a separate shower/wet room, and has beautiful views over the village bowling green and surrounding countryside.
With level access and wide opening doors, each room is wheelchair friendly, and features electrically adjustable profiling beds with pressure reducing static or dynamic air mattresses for high need patients, and includes a television, telephone and entertainment system including Wi-Fi connectivity.  Assisted bathrooms are also available.

Says Tracey Gardner, head of care at the Village: “We aim to have the very best nurses and carers, while providing a beautiful home that is fun, sociable and stimulating for those who live here.”

The care home also has its own quality restaurant and large, airy lounges for socialising.  Unusually for a care home, it is also close to the village’s own wellness spa with its luxury swimming pool, hair salon and treatment rooms which can be used for beauty treatments by health specialists such as physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors.  There is a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, a gym and fitness studio.  Carers and spa staff provide full support, and even accompany less-mobile residents into the pool.

“Care is a key tenet at Richmond Villages,” says Paddy Brice, its managing director.  “We design the care home to be a central part of every village, employ our own onsite care team, and provide facilities which are not normally associated within such a setting.  Our aim is to provide a high quality environment with wonderful interior design.”

“The care home gives our residents great flexibility, and provides residential and nursing care plus a dedicated dementia facility.  As well as permanent residents, respite care is also available to those who need it, either to recover from illness or an operation, before then returning home.

“This new facility will be a great asset to the wider community and help relieve the ever-increasing pressure on the care services in the area.”

Richmond Witney
The new £35 million Richmond Witney features all the facilities that have made the other Richmond villages so popular, including a wellness spa with swimming pool and gym, hair and beauty salon, a library, IT room, terrace café, quality restaurant and garden bar, and all set within beautifully landscaped grounds with a bowling green, croquet lawn and nature reserve beyond.  Activities, events and a village transport service are also provided.

The large one and two-bedroom Village apartments provide an independent lifestyle whilst the Village suites provide assisted living for those who wish to retain their independence but require some assistance with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Richmond Witney also offers its own domiciliary care team who are on-site 24-hours a day to provide tailored care to residents, while the state-of-the-art care home at the heart of the village provides the reassurance of nursing and dementia care.
