Downton - one of the UK’s leading independent transport and logistics companies, has appointed LawsonClarke PR to oversee and co-ordinate its communications.

The company has recently invested £10 million in a new import and distribution centre near Gloucester, while also announcing two new large contracts. The 120,000 sq ft purpose built facility sits on an 8-acre freehold site at Quedgeley, just a mile from the M5.

Said Richard Downton, finance director of Downton: “We are delighted to be working with LawsonClarke, who will coordinate our media and customer e-communications.  After many years of keeping rather a low profile, we decided it was time to tell people what we were up to!”

Managing director of LawsonClarke PR, Jeremy Clarke said: “Take a drive up any motorway and you’ll see Downton’s distinctive trucks - day or night. The company has a lot of positive news stories to communicate even in these difficult economic times, and we are really pleased to be working with such a successful family owned business.”

LawsonClarke PR is based in the Cotswolds, and offers expertise in automotive, home interest, property, lifestyle and leisure sectors, and both consumer and business-to-business (B2B) public relations. Its experience spans all areas of reputation management and communication, from media relations and events to internal communications, crisis and issues PR.
